Lisa Nye-Salladin and Adam Salladin have owned Hill Country Bicycle Works in Kerrville and Fredericksburg for over 30 years. Upon moving to Kerrville in 1995 they observed a lack of trails in the area. They created an 8 mile trail system at Singing Wind Park and then were told no mountain biking, no trails even though there were plenty of social trails throughout the park. This was 30 years ago and a different park culture. After that response, Lisa applied and was appointed to the Kerrville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board starting in 1999. She has served on and off that Advisory Board for a total of 20 years with one of many goals being a master plan for Singing Wind Park and a trail system approved through proper channels.
In the meantime, Adam, David Appleton and Lisa have worked the proper channels to design, build and maintain the trails at Kerrville Schreiner Park, taking the trail system from 4 miles to now almost 15 miles. KSP Trail Map
In partnership with local James Manchester, an avid trail rider and frequent user of the loosely defined trails currently at Singing Wind Park, Lisa, Adam and David recently formed the Texas Hill Country Trails Alliance, a 501(c)3 to actively fundraise for trails.
